Fellow helper, I hope youāll get a copy for you too!š
This is the first holiday season that The Soul of the Helper is available, and if you have not yet read it, I sincerely hope youāll pick up a copy to snuggle up with a cup of coffee or cocoa and read over the holiday break.
With the reminders woven throughout the book to slow down, to be still, to seek the Sacred, and to tend do your own mental health and spiritual journey, my hope is that this season offers some margin to try the various practices woven throughout the book to care for you well as you care for others.
Whether you read the physical copy or listen to the audiobookā¦
I pray that the words in these chapters meet you exactly where you are along your own unique, sacred journey in which your faith/spirituality and mental health intertwine with one another ā both of which tend to be elevated during the holiday season. It was a gift to get to write this book over the course of 3+ years while watching the sunrise, and I sincerely hope these chapters stir within you what they offered to me:
ā¦the tender reminder that you are Beloved.
As I wrote in the Intention section at the beginning of the book:
āThe way you care for others is holy, sacred word. You bring healing to so many in the good work you do. Regardless of whether you see it, you are birthing beauty, love, goodness, and wholeness into the world. As a fellow human being, parent, teacher, loved one, and helper ā thank you.
In the pages ahead, I hope to honor you and the ways you care for others. At the same time, know that I deeply care for you just as you are, aside from anything you do. Why? Because you bear the image of divinity. You are beloved exactly as you are, and that alone makes you worthy of honor and dignity.
Thatās why I intend to serve you in this book with the hope that in the pages ahead you will not only see the image of God in yourself but you will see it in those you serve. Even more, itās my hope that you will learn to better serve the Sacred in yourself and others, nurturing the divine spark that is in you.
A final requestā¦
If youāve read this book, please please please take a moment to rate/review this book on Goodreads and/or Amazon and share with others! Those reviews matter so much in helping others find the book. Plus, with this being the first holiday itās available and if this book has served you well in some way, Iād love your help in encouraging fellow helpers to check it out! (Hereās a sample tweet that you can edit or adapt for FB/IG!)
To those who have already reviewed/shared ā thank you. š Each offers a little flicker of hope to see other fellow travelers navigating this journey of seeking the Sacred and loving our neighbors as ourselves.
Benediction
As we inch toward this weekās holiday, again honoring the layer upon layer upon layer of life that weāre carrying within our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls within this moment, Iād love to return to the benediction offered in Novemberās newsletterā¦
May we be so very tender, kind, and compassionate toward ourselves ā and may we extend this love toward others, remembering to love our neighbors as ourselves.
May we pause to name what it is that we need in this moment, and to do what we can to meet that need ourselves or courageously ask for help to meet that need.
May we weep when our chest swirls with emotion, laugh when our soul longs for joy, reach out when we crave connection, and practice stillness when discernment is necessary.
May we unwind our muscles during those moments of felt safety and a humble recognition of the unpromised moment weāve been given.
May we pause to name the boundaries we need to move through the upcoming holidays, and may we honor those boundaries to the best of our ability.
To those who are practicing or contemplating sobriety as we approach the holiday season:
With every ounce of my being, I see you, fellow traveler.
May you take this path one day, one moment at a time.
You can do this ā I believe in this path and am cheering on each of us.
May you breathe, know the moment(s) will pass, contact your sponsor and/or support group, and hold on to that glass of water like a lifeline.
And to each of us:
May we return to the truth that we are so dearly loved and miraculous just as we are.
May we rest in this reminder of our inherent worth.
Be well, friends. Breathe deep and remember how truly loved you are as you are in this moment.
Kindly,
Holly
